The region is known for its world-class seafood, unspoilt beaches, and protected nature reserves, offering something for food lovers, adventurers, and peace-seekers alike.

Activities
If you love the outdoors then you will love visiting us in Monfero. The ancient woodlands of the Fragas do Eume are ideal for hiking and moutain biking, with moss covered trees, secret fairy glens and the chance to spot a wild deer or boar. You can truly escape from everything here. For the more daring, there is a thrilling via ferrata route, an exhilarating path, not for the fainthearted, with breathtaking views. Maybe you prefer the wind in your hair and surf spray on the coastal paths that wind along dramatic cliffs with sunset views, while gentle riverside strolls await along the well-lit paseo in Pontedeume or the longest seafront promenade in Europe, found in A Coruña. The area is also a dream for water lovers; kayak on the nearby reservoir, glide through tranquil rias along the coast or paddle directly in the River Eume. Wild swimming opportuniites abound in rivers, old mills and of course the refreshing coves of the Atlantic at Cabanas or Miño. Just a short drive away, the surfing beaches of Pantín, Doniños and Valdoviño offer world class surfing and kitesurfing opportunities and spectacular seascapes. There really is an activity for everyone within a short distance.
Home comforts
At the end of a day's exploring, come home to all the comforts you would expect in our rural retreat. The house features a fully equipped kitchen with oven, stove, toaster and kettle. There is a cosy wood-burning stove for cooler evenings, a deep soaking tub for relaxing and plenty of space to hang and store your belongings. Outside, guests are welcome to use our custom-built barbecue, crafted by our resident metal sculptor, perfect for leisurely outdoor meals. The BBQ transforms into a fire pit if later on you want to continue the evening outside and stay warm! Pets are welcome on request, and there are plenty of dog-friendly walking trails nearby, plus a dedicated dog beach open during the summer months (most other beaches restrict dogs from May to October). If you need to do laundry during your stay we're happy to provide access to our washing machine. We try to make sure everything is here to help you feel completely at home and will be on hand for any issues that arise.
cultural sights
The area surrounding our house is steeped in history and culture, offering a wealth of fascinating sites to explore. Just a short distance away stands the 11th century Santa Maria of Monfero monastery a striking Romanesque building set against a backdrop of heather covered hills. These mountains are absolutely littered with archaeological treasures- ancient petroglyphs, mysterious stone markings over 3,000 years old and prehistoric burial mounds that whisper stories of the region's distant past. For those who love to walk or mountain bike, nearby trails lead through the Fragas do Eume Natural Park to the atmospheric San Xoán of Caaveiro monastery, open to the public and perfect for a day of exploration. You will definitely want to stop for award winning pinchos and refreshments at the amazing taberna. In summer, the Torre de Andrade opens its doors, offering panoramic views across to Ferrol and A Coruña. You can also visit the Torreón in the heart of Pontedueme, which houses the local tourist information centre. Further afield, Ferrol and A Coruña offer a rich array of castles, forts and museums. Ferrol is also home to elegant galerías - glass-fronted balconies unique to Galicia and the famous Meninas de Canido, a colourful and ever-growing outdoor art project that brings the streets to life with playful reimaginings of Velázques's classic painting. The region is truly a cultural treasure trove for curious and creative travellers alike.

Highly recommended
I had the most wonderful and relaxing stay at this beautiful house. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease. The setting is peaceful and surrounded by stunning nature—perfect for unwinding and disconnecting. I especially loved walking in the nearby forests and enjoying the fresh air. The house itself is cosy and comfortable, with everything you could need. One of my highlights was soaking in the tub after a long walk—pure bliss! The hosts were welcoming, thoughtful, and always happy to help if I had any questions. I left feeling rested, inspired, and already planning my return. Highly recommended!

The accommodation is 5 star, delightful large space, with fab bedroom and kitchen, dining table etc. I was really comfortable there for 4 weeks, the stand out is the garden at the back, a lovely place to chat and watch the evening come in.
